The Label Bas-Carbone is France's only government label guaranteeing real emission reductions. Our forest projects use two official methods, validated by the Ministry.
Afforestation involves planting trees on land that has never been forested (agricultural fallow, degraded grasslands). The method measures carbon sequestered by trees over 30 years, compared to a baseline scenario without planting.
Reforestation concerns formerly forested land (after clear-cutting, storms, fire or disease). The method values the reconstitution of forest stands with climate-adapted species, measuring the additional carbon stored compared to natural regeneration.
Soil analysis, local climate and selection of adapted species.
Preparation of technical file and submission to the Ministry.
Validation by an independent auditor and Label award.
Planting by local professionals.
Annual monitoring over 30 years, verification and credit issuance.
